AZ GTI - quick question.

Recommended Posts

About to pull the trigger on buying the above but I want to use the existing tripod of my Vixen Porta ii mount as it should be substantially better than the supplied tripod. Is it just a case of changing the locking bolt to a 3/8th one and we’re good to go or is there some sort of adapter thingy I need?

Also, my intended setup is approaching the max stated payload of 5kg. I take it that this will be fine stability wise? (I’ll be getting the upgraded holder piece as well)

ta!

I use steel tripod from HEQ5 to mount AzGTI - it was just a matter of getting M10 to 3/8 adapter, so I guess you only need appropriate bolt - just make sure your mounting surface is flat (adapter I'm using fixes issue with polar alignment peg on top of HEQ5 tripod).

Not sure about payload - I never loaded mine that much.

Excellent!  I have a Twilight 1 tripod that I'd like to use for other things, but that peg is in the way and I don't want to grind it off in case I sell the mount someday.  I like your aluminum box solution.

I've had close to 5kg on it and it was fine, but you might want to counterbalance it. With the appropriate bar and weight, plus a decent tripod, I'm sure it would take more weight easily.
