Astroberry server default password

Recommended Posts

This may be a stupid question but how do you change the default server password? I'm logging on OK and can access through my own network or by hotspot (I changed the default there), but I can't for the life of me find where to change the default server password - forgive me - I've only had an RPI for a couple of hours so its all new!

Thanks in advance.

open a terminal window and type passwd then press enter then follow the info i.e enter current password  and then enter new password you may well be able to change it in the raspi-config app from the drop down menu

Can I ask, why do you need to change it....sometimes this can issues, so don’t do it unless you really need to....I changed mine once and had a nightmare afterwards....but then again that was me, and Linux and me don’t seem to mix....👍🏼

because there was an issue with hackers ssh into the Rpi https://indilib.org/forum/astroberry/7627-raspberry-pi-trojan-going-wild.html

albeit this was related to the Pi account and not astroberry one but who knows they could apply it to that account as well

yes @RadekK disabled the Pi account in his build by default. But if i was you i would want to change the PW anyway as you never know for the Astroberry account just peace of mind

Yeah, that was my thinking too - I never would leave a PW as default 😊
