hi can anyone suggest a decent book on astrophotograhpy i'm a complete novice and could really do with some help with all jargon , i've seen e few on amazon but don't want to buy one that i can't understand

Covington's book is a very good primer. Are you considering a CCD or a DSLR camera?

As I am going to use a DSLR is was recommended this book by a guy a long time in the astro business - Digital Astrophotography - The State of the Art by David Ratledge.

I'm currently reading Philip's Astrophotography and, while it's got some useful bits of theory and project suggestion, it focuses on film so is largely obsolete.

Reeves' book is probably more suitable.

I am also hoping to try my hand at digital photography and have acquired two books by Robert Reeves, the one mentioned by Dennis, and An introduction to webcam Astrophotography, I only purchased these a short while ago so I am not able, as yet, to give you any positive feed back. The price on Amazon is £57 and £51 respectively, However, I stumbled across ACS Astro of Somerset who has them for sale at £30 each + postage.

They are beautifully bound books of good quality by Messrs Willmann-Bell,Inc.
