Orion - Modified vs Un-Modified DSLR

Yesterday, my first modified DSLR (Canon EOS 100D) was delivered from Cheap Astrophotography. I've been using an un-modified Canon EOS 100D for astrophotography since I started. When I looked outside at about 10PM last night, it was clear so I set up my Star Adventurer, Samyang 135mm F2 and new camera and tried to replicate an image of Orion that I had taken recently with my un-modified 100D in order to do a comparison.

I used exactly the same camera settings as I had done previously - ISO 800, 30 second exposures at F2.8. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take many pictures before it clouded over and then I had to delete a lot of the ones I had taken due to passing cloud. With the modified camera, I think that there is significantly less noise in the Flame and Horsehead Nebula despite the fact that there are far fewer frames stacked.

Un-modified 100D (~1 hour 10 minutes)

Modified 100D (~22 minutes)

This image of M42 was made with an un-modded 100D through a SS 150mm F2.8 Hyper Newt.  I just got a Ha modded 100D and I hope to shoot M42 again using the same setting for a comparison as soon as the weather clears.  We have 6" of snow and a low of -4°F night before last.
