ASIAIR Pro and Sky Watcher HEEQ 5

Recommended Posts

I'm very new to this just recieved my Sky Watcher HEQ 5 using the EQMOD method to connect ASIAIR pro to mount, I have a UGREEN Ethernet Adapter, I can not get it to connect not sure if the connector is bad or doing something wrong, I did order the cable for the
HEQ 5. I am choosing EQMOD for my mount. I'm not really sure if I have it plugged in to the mount correctly, Im in the hand controller plug.
Thanks for any help.

Hi and  welcome to SGL, not got an HEQ5 but there are a few options on the ASAIR Pro menu, have you downloaded and installed latest EQASCOM driver  ?

You may need to change the baud rate to 115200

Hi,

I use Lynx Astro FTDI EQDIR USB Adapter for Sky-Watcher Mount to connect EQ5 pro mount to ASIAIR pro.

Simply connect the mount (hand controller connector) and ASIAIR (USB 2) with the EQDIR cable.

Power up ASIAIR pro and select  “EQ Mod Mount”, once selected make sure the switch next to the mount name is toggled on (green) to connect the mount.

Use the manual buttons to slew test if mount is responding to ASIAIR.

I don’t use the hand controller.

Do some newer SW mounts have direct USB so don't need the FTDI adapter  ?

Dave

The latest EQ6-R and AZ-EQ5/6 have built-in FTDI chip, so you can just use a regular USB cable. However they will still show up as a COM device (serial).

Hi

So just to confirm, you connected from your ASIAIR Pro(using one of the usb 2 ports) <--> SW HEQ5 into the port that normally would have been used to connect the handset ?

Using a EQMod cable (usb one end and the other looks like a ST4/telephone plug)

Thanks
