EQ6-R Pro slewing to wrong targets

Recommended Posts

So I've installed all the softwares, platesolving, phd2 and what have you.

I'm doing some slew testing( from inside) using APT just to see how the mount reacts,  if cables will get stuck and so on.

So, even if I'm inside doing testing I know that it would have slewn to the wrong target.

When I had my EQ3-2 and had that(very roughly) polar aligned the targets that I'm trying to slew to would have been in completely other directions compared to the polar axis.

I also noticed that i tried to slew to orion from andromeda and it moves for a split second and then stops.

I figured it was because I hadnt set my location in APT, so I did that. Still having the same issue.

I've also tried to slew to a few differemt targets but for some reason it slews to the same spot.

Anything that really jumps out that I need to check?

I just tried disablimg the limits in EQMOD and did a few slew tests(while keeping a close eye on things)  it does no longer slew to the same location. It continues beyond that.

However, it's still nowhere near where it should have pointed

Date and Time comes from your PC for APT. That shouldn't be an issue.

Have you got the correct Lat/Long settings in APT and EQMOD?

When you do a slew, are you starting from the correct home position? Weights down, scope up, etc?

What are you powering the mount from? An insufficient power supply can play havoc.

Should have yes!  I set the Lat/Long of my cities location in EQMOD and loaded through ascom for APT and double checked that they matched.

I've tried both slewing from home->target and target->target. Both produce the same results.

I'm using the 17ah skywatcher batterypack for mount, camera & dew heaters, nothing else. Dew heaters are set to 0 by the way.

Do you have old Alignment/Sync points saved in EQMOD from your old mount? Delete any that are saved.

Same with any custom park positions.

Park your mount. Turn off. Re-balance and set everything to your home position and then turn the mount back on and in EQMOD click the Re-Sync button in the Park/Unpark section. (Looks like a recycle icon)

Retry slewing.
