Tube clamps for Altair 80mm finder scope

Recommended Posts

The foul weather probably leads to tendencies to fiddle with equipment when little else can be done.

Has anyone ever found tube clamps to fit the Altair 80mm finder scope? Overall external tube diameter seems to be a tad short of 84mm.

This is the closest I could find (but likely not close enough)

Hi

I don't have the Altair telescope so cannot confirm for certain, but the 90mm sw rings with the finder telescope bolted to a rail along the top of the main telescope rings would avoid most if not all the usual flexure associated with 120º rifle type rings.

Is that a set on ebay? not mine by the way, just googled Altair 80mm Guidescope, didn't know they made one!

or

I very recently bought the riccardi flattener and tubes from APM and it was fairly quick delivery - I think Altair is a Chinese APM clone?

(I have a 80mm Wave apo scope and that obviously has its own rings but I use that with the 60mm guidescope)

Ah, OK

If the OP is using it simply as a finder telescope then adjustable rings are the way to go.

I automatically assume everyone is imaging and so in this case it just had to for a guide telescope. Must pay more attention!

Cheers
