Imaging collaboration?

Morning,

I thought it might be an interesting project to do an imaging collaboration, not sure if anyone has attempted this on here before?

I guess we'd all need fairly similar setups in terms of fov and arcseconds/pixel. And would need to agree on a target

Anyone have any thoughts? Here's mine...

Groups of people with similar setups
Agree on target and share platesolvable image to frame the target
Everyone takes subs for all the filters agreed on
1 month to take subs
Share calibrated subs at the end

It's a good idea Wyvern, give it time.

So does everyone get a chance to process it.

If it's a target doable for me I'll join in.

So at the end it could be a massive amount of collected data.  But we'd need some sort of re-sizing software to make sure all the subs fitted.

Oh yes absolutely! My lines of thinking  were something like a large shared online area where people can post their subs. I think they should be pre calibrated to save on space and time for others.

I think that is the most interesting part, to see everyones take on the data.

I have a fairly obstructed view so I think if we can find a subject high up that may suit more people.

Thanks, just one point on combining data from reflectors, it’s highly likely the diffraction spikes on bright stars won’t line up so these may need to be processed out?

Indeed, I hadn't thought of that... Good point. Maybe if we can get enough interest,  1 reflector per "team"?

Would any of these targets work for you Carole? Have listed a few in order of preference

1. NGC 1491

2. NGC 7380

3. IC 1848

Happy for any suggestions you have too.

I am mostly imaging with my Samyang lens at the moment, but could contribute past data on the Wizard and Pacman in narrowband.

So if it's a mono camera are you wanting a stacked and calibrated and all colours combined image ready to process.

(need to search for it as it was a few years ago).

Yes we need to decide if broadband or narrowband.
