Venus 9th Jan

This is my first attempt at imaging Venus for nearly two years. I was pretty pleased with it until I just saw Mr Eds efforts (http://stargazerslounge.com/index.php/topic,37318.0.html).

Now I wonder why I bother why people are producing such amazing images!

Very nice grab.

You have the disk just fine and sharp.

You also have a very simalar scope to the one i use.

Just apply some filters and your there

Personally I can't believe you are despondent with that picture. It is a great grab.

You should definitely follow eds advice and get the filters but either way keep the pictures coming!

Don't get me wrong, It's the best image of Venus I've ever managed. It's just that just when you think you're getting good some inconsiderate person like Ed comes along and shows you how it should be done! (LOL)

I'd love to able to get a UV Pass filter, the problem is that there are only two availiable: the Baader U filter (£180) or the Astrodon Schuler UV filter (£120+). For a filter I'd only use a few times a year, I just can't justify the expense. Either of these filters would consistute most or all of a years worth of hardware spending.
