image intensifier

Anybody considered using an image intensifier to get the fainter objects in the FOV?

I Have used an Image intensifer eyepiece, the view was a green over exposed mess and this was with a 500 qud one not nice at all id avoid at all cost.

You need to be looking around 2-3 grand for anything worth having!

yipes. For that I could get another 8" Newt and double barrel them, combine the focal paths and .... well you see where this is going.

To be honest mate i think that any illumination when

looking at the night sky would kind of work like your own

built in light pollution.

Isn't an image intensifier is supposed to be used for

terrestrial use not astronomical? (i think)

If it was a viable idea it would have been done by now

and exploited by all the astro kit makers.
