Anyone obs. moon at the moment?

Just set up scope in hope of imaging, looking at moon, anyone seeing a bright sunlit cross at 2deg E 23deg S?

16:55 The sunlit formation looking like cross / X is still just visable, not as promenent as 60 mins ago but someone may get image. Its really quite nice. The illumination has changed quite a bit as sun goes down. Someone else must be seeing this?

Here's an image of mine taken in mid-June 2004... is that it? After the image was published, I found out the formation is known as the Purbach Cross.

I've seen it too, and just posted a sequence of shots with the 450d in Lunar imaging.

I think that's it Carol. Here one I took in 2007. The moon was t 42% illumination then as now.

Thanks Tom. I sent the pic to Chuck as a studyshot, and asked him if the X-feature had a name. Apparently he thought it was interesting enough to put on his site.. if I knew in advance that part of my email would be used as LPOD text, I'd have written something a lot more intelligent.

Thanks for all the response! I am pleased that other people have seen this before and have had the oppertunity to see this again. I thought it made a good photo oppertunity, unfortunately I have spent my evening with some old friends over dinner and no chance of imaging so glad some images and info have appeared.
