How to see Venus in the daytime?

Recommended Posts

Hello astronomers! I just wanted some help on how to see and image Venus in daylight, Since the more closer it is getting to the sun the more lower on the horizon when the sun sets. So how can I image Venus as it slims?

I used to do a rough set up with my goto mount, then put a low power EP in the scope (20 or 32mm), set the mount to Venus, and just hunt around a little left, right, up, down etc and it would eventually pop in to view to home in on it to view/image.

I tend to use Calsky to find out what position Venus is in relation to usually the Sun or the Moon. At the moment its 35 degrees from the Sun and approx 35 degrees high. I then use my outstretched arm/fist (fist is 10 degrees wide) to measure where the position should be. I then use the finder scope to locate Venus, can be a little tricky.

Obviously keep a very close eye where the Sun is when using any astronomical equipment. I nearly always position my self in the shade of the shed, so i can not accidentally point the scope at the Sun. A few weeks Venus and the Sun were 50+ degrees apart, they are closing very very quickly now!
