Comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Yet another first for me: my first ever comet :) Literally only 10 lights of 60 seconds taken just before packing up during the night of 27 March.  Can't believe I managed to capture it - hope to go back to it for more images this Sat night 🤞🏾

Stay safe all,

Vin

Thanks again Jeremy.  Just wanted to say your new Tak looks gorgeous.  I've never peeped through one, but was meant to be diving in Cyprus this month where @nicoscywas kindly going to put on an evening with some of the amazing glass he has.  Sadly a bat got in the way...

Love the eggshell blue trim on the Tak.

Cheers

I am quite excited that last night I managed to create video showing movement in Comet C/2019 Y4 ATLAS. Never done this before - link takes you to my video on YouTube - represents about 2.5 hours of images in 30 seconds. The amount of movement is small but if you watch the position of the nucleus relative to the two stars to its left then movement is clear during this time period. I also like the visible tail on right of nucleus. It is that visibility which has led to suggestions that comet is breaking up.
