How do I mosaic with APT and CDC?

On variousForums I’ve seen several people mention that it is very easy to get APT to run a mosaic routine using CdC but can’t seem to find an idiots guide to actually doing this. 
 

Can someone explain the basic steps or point me to such a guide?
