Discovered this object whilst testing out my "new" Eagle3s It looks like a Super Nova Remnant.

It's in Cassiopeia at approx. RA: 0h,0m,20s  DEC:62d,29m,38s. It is faint, thin and about 1 degree in diameter. My PHD guiding didn't work so this is

47 x 2 minutes unguided in Ha. It is not a Sharpless object and I cannot see it in any Super Nova list that I have seen. Any ideas?

Tech Details:

Scope: Takahashi Epsilon 180ED @f2.8

Camera: Modified Atik 4021

Filter:  2inch Baader 7nm in EFW3

Mount: EQ6 with Rowan and EQ6 Wedge3 mods

P.S. Just seen this in Tom O'Donoghue's brilliant 25 pane mosaic in the top right hand corner.

Thanks All, yes indeed it is CTB-1 (or Abel 85).

When it was found, it was thought to be a Planetary Nebula, and given the label Abel 85. It has since been re-assessed and now is believed to be a Super Nova Remnant. It has also been given the name CTB-1 but has not been given a SN number and not logged into the list of Super Novas. Hence I couldn't find it!
