These are even more impressive as according to his equipment list he is using a 18" starmaster which is a

truss dob. There's no mention of any tracking platform or tracking device.

So if this is the case these are fantasic images and they prove that moon and planets can be photographed with a dob to this calibre.

You dont need a tracking device for planets or moon with a dob just use a fast exp and a high 1,600 or more iso.

Such magnificent Images, all of them. That 18" Dob. is no ordinary one, it will have great tracking ability, but for the Images displayed, the exposure times would not really require field de rotation even. Wes. is a master craftsman at lunar and planetary imaging. It is also nice to say, there are a few members of SGL able to run him close in those disciplines.
