Skywatcher Skymak 127 focuser

Recommended Posts

I am contemplating motorising my focuser and was looking at the focuser knob to see how easily it could be removed. There are 2 Allen screws that hold the knob in place but when fully loosened it does not appear to want to come off. Does anyone know if the knob is removable as I don’t want to cause any damage.

No need to remove the focuser knob. With the rubber cover removed a toothed drive pulley will fit. Get a pulley with a 12mm bore and drill it out to a slightly larger size so it will slip over the focuser knob. Some filing may be needed to make the bore big enough.

There is a thread here on SGL on motorising the focuser.
