Summer Solstice Supernova 2019hsw

I don't normally do much deep sky imaging in June but I saw a report of supernova 2019hsw in NGC2805 and thought I'd give it a go over Friday evening/Saturday morning, 21st/22nd June.

So this is just a stack of nine 10-minute subs through a luminance filter using my 150mm f7.3 refractor and mono CCD, working at 0.69 arcsec/pixel. Also in the frame are NGC2820/2820A and NGC2014.

The good thing was that NGC2805, over in Ursa Major was well away from the rising 80% illuminated Moon, but it was much nearer to the Sun, barely 12 degrees below the horizon😬

Some details of the SN are over on http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/supernova.html#2019hsw.

Looking forward to clear, darker skies...hopefully!

Andy

yes, they did effect my guiding at times but I did manage to capture a shot of them earlier in the evening.

Cool... thinking of becoming a SN hunter?

maybe, this is the 5th SN that I've bagged now but this has been over the last 10 years, so I'm not very productive🙄

My list is as follows...

2009dd in NGC4088

2011fe in M101

2017eaw in NGC6946

2017ein in NGC3938

2019hsw in NGC2805

PS, when I say bagged, I simply mean that I have followed up a previously announced discovery😀

Do it... those 5 were probably without actively trying... once you're hunting your collection will add up.
