Using CdC to improve day-time alignment

All I'm looking for at the moment is remote control of telescope just to slew to and track the sun, if anyone can suggest a simpler method?

In CdC, you can select the HEQ5 mount without the EQMod and goto the sun then just track at solar rate.

Thanks again, I'll have to look at the instructions and double-check all the settings, especially as I get two EQMOD panels opened as well as the POTH.

Just open CdC then select the EQMOD scope.

this should open just one copy of EQMod.

POTH is definitely not needed.

 

In CdC click "Telescope -> Connect Telescope" and then "Select".    There should be 2 EQMOD options.  The "Simulator" can be useful for testing.  Make sure that anything else that uses the mount also uses the same EQMOD driver.

If the mount is fixed in an observatory, then you can use PHD2 to do a remarkably good polar align.  Sharpcap also has an align procedure, but I've never used this.

Thanks don41 I have removed the auto-link in Sharpcap, and connected through EQMOD in CdC, rather than POTH. Hope for some consistency in blue skies to check!
