First outing with the WO72 (Thanks FLO) on the AstroTrac and the results look promicing.

Feeling allot more confident with the AstroTrac now. Just hope the clear Sky's stay.

Very Nice...

I really like my Megrez72... I would save some pennies up and get the FF III to go with it as well then you'll get a bit more FOV but more importantly nicely shaped stars edge to edge and a reduction in and vignetting..

Glad to see you are getting to grips with the Astrotrac. A few more subs like that and you will be on your way . As Billy has recommended it's well worth getting the Williams Optics Field Flattener/Reducer.

Nice image Lee. I have just bought an Astrotrac myself (hence the cloud and snow - sorry guys). Apart from setting it up indoors and then actually managing to see the Pole star through the Polar scope for about 10 seconds yesterday evening, haven't yet managed to use it (No clear skies for 27 nights now - a record I think?).

So Lee (or any one else), got any tips re setting it up or getting the best out of it?

Tom,

It's all about the alignment... Make sure the tripod is level before you polar align. Other than that it's trial and error.

The FFIII is money well spent i dont image without it ... would take the improvement in image quality over the reduction in FL anyday...especially when your using a large hires sensor like a DSLR...
