orion- single frame

Hi everyone

With lots of new astro gear about to be given first airing, I thought I'd post this as an example of what you can do with just a short gap in the clouds.

Trying to work out my landscapes from my portraits on an eq mount, I decided Orion would be a good target so fired away 2 snaps, one in each orientation.  This one was one of them [1]. I took a single flat frame and merged it in siril. An astro image in about 15 minutes, including processing and working out how to flip it to get it the right way up...

700d + Takumar 135/3.5 @ f5.6 120s @ ISO800

I didn't realise that you could capture the Horsehead and Flame nebula with a single 2 minute exposure! Nice work.
