M82 ASI224

This is M82 the Cigar Galaxy in Ursa Major, captured in the early hours of 29/10/2018. Equipment used was:

Imaging Camera: ZWO ASI224

Scope: Skywatcher 130PDS

Mount: Skywatcher HEQ5

Guiding: Altair GPCAM v1 Colour with Finderguider and PHD2 software.

Capture Software: Sharpcap 3.2

Processing Software: Deep Sky Stacker (stacking), Pixinsight (processing)

-150 minutes of 30 second lights

-50 x Darks

-100 x flats

-100 x Dark flats

Very nice indeed. I must have another bash with my planetary cameras on these DSOs (I have only tried M51 and M13 to date)

Looks brilliant.....is there any tutorials on using the 224 for deep sky anywhere.

Thanks, not that I've seen. I just use it as a traditional camera although I tend to use shorter exposures as the read noise is very low. You have to use darks because of the amp glow.

Here they are, both with ASI178MM and 80mm F/6 triplet. M13 is an LRGB image, M51 just luminance

Cracking images. That pixel size gives a great image scale.

Great that Michael, loving M51, I prefer the more natural look these days over the massively processed images I am seeing more and more of.
