That's interesting. It certainly explains why i had such a hard time trying to 'fix' the background. Perhaps it didn't need fixing at all! ?

Take a look at Olly Penrice's recent veil--he really exemplified the faint stuff.  It definitely is there.  That's not to say that there couldn't be some element of the background that needs to be fixed.  This is a game of ever decreasing increments  (In processing tool settings) as you are no doubt aware.
