Telescope opinions...

Hi, 

I'm looking at the below scope as my next purchase.  I currently have the SW 150 but on an EQ3 manual mount. What's engines opinion - is it worth the change over,  out do I just get a goto mount for my current scope???

The mount function might be worthwhile for your purposes but the change from a SW 150 to the 114P would not in my opinion.   ?

If you are happy with the SW 150p & the EQ3 but want GOTO you have options;

If you are into DIY you could build your own GOTO upgrade for around £100 using;

The DIY options are a lot of work but also a lot of fun.

Hello there, 

    If i were you, i would consider upgrading my mount with the go to upgrade kit rather than buying a whole new set-up, if what i really need is a go-to feature of course. Regarding your scope, my opinion is exactly the same as Peter above.

Depending on what you think the future holds, why not look at an EQ5 driven mount?

More money yes. But not a lot more of an effort to carry.

That way you could, for example upgrade to an SW200 or similar size/weight scope in future.
