Eq5 goto , grind fix.

Last time out , the Dec axis decided to build up to a whirring followed by a grinding noise. I spent  some time removing everything down to the worm. The first thing that I spotted was that everything was covered in a tacky brown grease , yuk. Cleaned everything off and replaced with the Lithium grease.

I noticed (yikes !) that the spindle cog on the motor was just jarring against the mesh of the cogs. Took everything off , tried again. I noticed only one brass washer, there should be three ! Found two on the patio where they'd fallen out !

All assembled and adjusted , same problem as before. Went to the astronomy shed site. Thread on same problem. Blooming DIN cable. Swapped them over and worked perfectly.

The easiest solutions aren't the most obvious ! Nick.IMG_5509.thumb.PNG.d408c412d49168835f43602e73e05067.PNG
