My Samsung Digimax A50 5M pixel camera is able to record extended Mpeg-4 vga AVI video at 30fps.

Forgive my ignorance, but would this be suitable for planetary photography and DSO photography

providing i had it attached to a bracket ?

Thanks

I don't have any experience of that camera but you could certainly use it to take snaps of the moon and planets.

With regard to the video function. Just have a go!

my fuji camera needs the the avi's altering in virtual dub before registax will accept them though.

Your results may not be as good as the latest astro cameras but you will still be surprised what a digi cam can do!

If the camera has manual exposure of 15 seconds or so you can do some bright deep sky work too although this is more tricky!!

I cannot see no reason not to give it a go.

Should take good shots of the moon, Saturn and Jupiter.

As it's not a dslr you will need to do eyepiece projection, not a problem just a little trickier.
