I should add I'm new to EQ mounts and guiding, having used a dobsonian mount for the last twenty years. I'm completely out the loop with current astrophotography. I assumed a 'guided' telescope was a telescope that followed the stars without having to move it manually,  (the dobsonian glides on Teflon pads, and there's no setting up at all). From what you're saying, 'guided' is a more accurate method of following the stars than simply polar aligning and fitting a motor?

So if I polar align my EQ mount, and fit a motor on to follow the stars, this is still 'unguided'. To call it 'guided' that means you need a second camera and mount and that second camera and mount guides the first more accurately?

Not two mounts, 2 cameras and scopes on the same mount.
