CDC galaxy orientation

Hi. I wasted hours last night before the dew came believing that the red blob galaxy outlines that CDC provided were true to their orientation:

Alas no. I fired a few frames at M33 with the camera rotated 0º only to find the orientation was around 90º out. Hitting every button to try to see the actual image beneath the red not-the-correct-orientation-blob got me this:

Better. I can now see the orientation and therefore correct my camera orientation.

Question: is there a way to turn off all red blobs but still see the actual object? I can see m33 poking through beneath but cant't remove the blob(s)... TIA.
