WO Star 71 Rings

I have a problem with the rings that were supplied with my WO Star 71 (Mk I).  These rings have a felt lining.  I have tightened these as much as I can around my WO Star 71.  Certainly, I cannot tighten them anymore, without eating a load of spinach.  Despite this, it is possible for me to rotate the scope within the rings and slide the scope up and down in the rings.  I don't remember seeing this before, but to be honest, I wasn't really looking for it before (I have just rebuilt the rig for the umpteenth time).  I wonder if adding some 'packing' material between scope and ring is the answer.   What do others do about this?  (I am hoping that I do not have a unique issue).

I dont know how much of an issue this is but I would go down to my local pound shop and get a bike inner tube and cut into strips, worked for one of my finders.

Raid the wife's haberdashery stock pile for some thin felt type material or as Alan as suggested rubber inner tube.

Yup - those are the two common solutions - rubber or thicker felt to line the rings. Both very effective - I use felt on my Meg72 and never had a problem with it.
