6" F/15 ED refractor from AOKswiss

Recommended Posts

It's going to be a handful to mount but it's unusual to get a slow ED refractor these days so I thought it might be of interest to some:

It's the link titled " Klassischer AOK Refraktor" on the above web page.

Thanks due to Chris C for highlighting this scope on another forum :icon_biggrin:

Some interesting big lightweight dobs on that page as well

Hi John,

I am not quite sure why you concentrated on the AOK model, above the other long focus "super planetary" ED refractors I mentioned which are in current production today.  However I would have great confidence in any project that Beat Kohler of AOK is involved with, and certainly he makes superb mounts more than capable of handling such long instruments.  The others are:

CFF oiled triplets: http://www.cloudynig...-now-available/

Astro-theke 130/1200 and 130/1600 doublets: http://astro-theke.d...aktur/produkte/,

And belatedly, after your post: Frank Theys, 120/1500 doublet: http://www.cloudynig...mponents/page-2

I think it was because I didn't know that AOK were involved in refractors Chris and that it was a long focal length ED, which are rather unusual. So for both those reasons it caught my eye and my imagination.

Thanks for providing the links to the others on here - I'm sure folks will find them interesting :icon_biggrin:
