Laptop screen (only) for remote monitor

I've gutted an old laptop and added the ram to another and bought a cheapy case to convert the hdd to an external one. I pulled the monitor off leaving the wiring in tact with the hope of using it for either a remote monitor or a lightbox.

So my question is.... is this possible? Thinking it might be a little project to get me up and running with arduino?

Suggestions (incuding "forget it") will be appreciatted :)

About 20 years ago I got a little box to fit a laptop drive in its name is vipower smart handy disk and it still works ,but you can get 1tb plug &play drives for £50 ,

Light box i never work out how to do the wireing on the board that drive the monitor so I give up on that one.
