M51 Lum

[Stardust]

This is my first image with my C9.25. I usually use a refractor but needed a longer focal length for galaxies. This was just a test run for focus/guiding and wasn't expecting much, but the session went quite well so gathered enough subs for the start of an image. This was 17x5 mins Atik One-6 Luminance, with idas lp filter & o,63 reducer. clouds stopped play and haven't cleared since.

i tried binning 2x2 last night 15x5 mins. I thought i would have gone deeper but can't really see much difference, any thoughts?. this is just a quick process

I decided that some of the 2x2 data wasn't great so took the best 7x5 mins and added to the original image and smoothed out the background.

Great image, with lots of detail and faint stuff in the background. I like the first and last better than the binned one (stars seemed off).
