DSLR cool down

Recommended Posts

When setting up for visual astronomy I tend to attach the eyepiece, diagonal etc to my SCT and then let the whole thing cool down for an hour or two before starting the session. Would this be the same when using a DSLR for imaging? I.e is it best practice to attach the camera to the scope and let the whole set up cool down, or should the camera be attached after the scope has cooled? Just wondered if there is a right and wrong way of doing this? Thanks in advance.

The camera doesn't need to cool down. Though having said that the cooler the sensor the less noise there will be, though if doing an imaging run and you have less than a 5 minute break or so the sensor heats up rapily anyway; the battery life inside the camera may also be adversley affected by the cold.
