Pier post length

I'm assuming if I put a pier post in the garden I would only need about 700mm  of post above ground which would be about the same as the standard tripod height , this will be for an eq6 and a 200p

Hi

You only get to do this once, so unless you're absolutely happy with your current tripod height, try some different ones, and measure twice!

For instance, do you observe standing, have you tried observing sitting down?

If you're only imaging, then a short pier will be steadier.
