Orion SkyQuest XT10i or Celestron Nexstar 925

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm thinking about upgrading to a bigger telescope and was wondering if anyone has had the chance to compare the Orion SkyQuest XT10i dobsonian telescope to a Celestron Nexstar 925 telescope?

I originally thought that the XT10i would be better as it has a larger mirror though some people have commented on how sharp the Celestron Nexstar 925's image can look. I'm particularly interested in seeing Galaxies and Nebulae. I won't be doing astro-photography so I don't really need the Nexstars motorised system.

Thanks!

Thanks. The XT10i has a shorter focal length than the Nexstar 925 (F4.7 vs F10) so I assume that distant objects will look brighter through the XT10i.

The additional aperture of the XT10 will show deep sky objects slightly better but the focal ratio has nothing to do with that.
