Out with the Skywatcher Pro 150 tonight for about 30 minutes just for fun to do a size comparison of an imaged area.

The first image was taken with the Nikon D3100 and shows roughly the image size areas of the Logitech C100 webcams sensor and then with a 2x Barlow.

That is the problem with a Barlow.

I try not to use them if possible.

A lot of people on here use them ,

& get good results. The first pict,

is very good.

Steve.

Yep I know what you mean Steve although the 2x Barlowed shot did capture some more detail even if the sharpness isn't there. I tend to avoid Barlows myself, they are not my thing. The only reason for using them would be for someone with 1 or 2 low powered eyepieces.

Like you say, some people do get great results from using them in imaging with those Powermates. I'd like to get my hands on one just to see difference and see what all the fuss is about.

The barlow image is not bad at all, although the F/30 I believe you are working at is perhaps a bit much for some webcams

Dialing in on the webcam settings is tricky Mike especially with planetary but I suspect all webcams will get ok results, but people shouldn't expect super clear perfect shots. I'm taking a real liking to cheap no frills webcam imaging.

I'm imaging on another little Samsung notebook for outside work and the images look better on it, more natural, contrast, brightness colour etc.

Conditions were good for the night but with our now hot days and cool nights, there was a lot of heat shimmer. Out of approx. 40 shots I took, there was about 6 clear'ish images that I'm happy with. Now and then it does capture a good shot.

Here are another 2 single shots. The second shot is 2x Barlowed.
