Filters CLS vc CLS CCD for Luminance.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a astronomik CLS filter. I also have a Baader modified Canon Camera EOS 600D. Can I use the CLS filter for Luminance ? - It is recommended to use the CLS CCD as it has IR block, - but seen as I have the CLS only version (without IR block) I would like to use that rather than having to spend out for the CLS CCD (with IR bock).

Thanks

Alistair

Hi Alistair

I presume you have a lp problem? 'Luminance' only really applies if you're using a mono camera with filters. But the cls filter will be fine with the mod you have. The ccd filter has slightly better transmittance but I think the difference is slight. If you had a full-spectrum modded camera then you would definitely need either the cls-ccd else the cls plus a UV/IR cut filter.
