Astrophotographers nightmare

Recommended Posts

Last night I had was the 3rd October.

I clicked 'like' to your comment, but to be honest, there is not much to 'like' about our climate! When I start imaging again, I will have to go back to basics with all the instruction manuals on hand. My short term memory over a day or two is bad enough, resuming after a month means starting from anew! What does a Bhatinov mask and a UHC filter do again? Which end of the scope does the camera go on? ha ha...

And all those clouds move on to Scandinavia after they've pestered you all in the UK

Yesterday was a break in the Clouds. (Even for you it seems, judging from the many late night/early morning posts here. )

So I grabbed my camera and binos and drove to my dark site (some 15 minutes).

Managed 60+ fixed wide field shots of Cygnus in the west and some 25 of Cass + Andromeda in the south (light pollution from Central Stockholm), before my camera fogged up.

At 21.30 local time Orions belt just made it over the trees in the east.

Next clear night I have to return to get a shot of the Pleiades. Sometime next year probably.

Good thing is I still image with the streetlights on but clouds, noooo!

BTW

There is a streetlight immediately to the right in the image and two behind the camera.

Thats five lights within 100metres and if you look down to the far left at the bottom

the school is ablaze with light, luckiily the football floodlights were not on.

If they had been I most likey could have shot this image at iso 200 instead of 6400.

Its amazing with all those lights the Plough just about shines thru.
