First shot of the moon

This is my first decent image of the moon, taken a few weeks ago using a Sony compact 16 mp camera on an adapter clamped to the eyepiece through a 10" Orion UK Newtonian. Can't wait to get a DSLR and start the learning curve.

That is fabulous! Can I ask what kit you used to attach the camera? My lovely old Fuji Finepix S5600 bridge camera does me brilliantly for mountain biking trips, but I don't think it'll attach to my 200p Dobby. My wife's Finepix Z series is a wee compact camera though, and if I could attach that to some sort of holder thingy and maybe get the odd shot like that one above, wow, I'd be a happy bunny.

You can buy a camera adapter from ebay for about £20, just search in telescopes for camera adapter. It clamps around your EP and is fully adjustable. I have the same bridge camera and I am saving up for a Canon 1100d. I have used the S5600 attached to the scope as well and it works well.

That's a pretty good picture!  You will love the DSLR.  I bought a used Canon 1100d and now use it exclusively for Astrophotography.   The trick is to get the right adapters for the camera and your particular telescope to be able to bring the image to focus.  The store where you buy these can probably advise you as to what you need.
