Messy Triangulum

Recommended Posts

Gave Triangulum a go last night, Sony APSC on Tamron 600mm lens & ioptron sky tracker.   Took 20 subs, 10 darks, 20 bias, no flats (ISO 800, f6.3, 120 sec, 900mm w Sony a6000)

Wasn't sure if ioptron could handle weight of big 600mm lens, was just over max weight capacity but surprisingly was not an issue.

Took a good 30 min to get polar alignment with galaxy in view, 30 shots just to see where I was and get zoomed.

Forgot I had UV filter on lens so im thinking that didn't help my efforts and perhaps lost detail and light ?

Half way through taking subs lens began to fog rendering half of subs totally worthless.

I forged on taking musty darks & bias not knowing if that mattered in regards to those sets.

Put all into Nebulocity and stacked but no galaxy was to be found so I tried again with the 9 good subs I had + bias & darks and again no galaxy.

Finally I threw out bias & darks and just stacked best 9 subs and got my messy Triangulum after some tweaking in Lightroom.  Below is a sub, stacked image with LR adjustments & crop image.

All tips, observations, insults welcome !

Enjoy !
