Sky glow/planetary filters

Recommended Posts

Just curious about getting some help on what filters to buy, I own a Celestron 8se so I'm ideally looking for filters to compliment that telescope.

I'm looking for a filter to cut down sky glow/light pollution (I live in the city) and also a filter that can increase contrast on planets like Jupiter and Saturn.

Any suggestions?

Hi Mate,

If you get the Baader Moon & Sky Glow filter and the Baader Contrast Booster, and observe Saturn and Jupiter with both of those filters stacked, providing you have good seeing and you're collimated, you will have the best views of those planets you've ever seen.. There were a number of times that I couldn't take my eye off the eyepiece. It makes quite a fair bit of difference.

Hi Davey, yes, I would recommend the Baader Neodymium Filter from FLO, good for skyglow and observing the Moon and bright planets, but does not enhance.  Forget colour filters, they colour up some features and diminish others, so not really a help.  For any other objects you need specialist filters which can be a bit expensive.
