The Milky Way is a stack of 24 images 2 minutes each. The hills and the first several degrees of sky above them are from the first image of that sequence.

Now, how does the Milky Way looks to the naked eye from this location? I have tried to make an approximation of the visual experience.

Very nice.  Having seen that I might have been tempted to go for some even longer exposures

I suspect you might have understated the Milky Way's naked eye appearance.  On a good night I'd say it's better than that here, and I'm sure Les Granges is better than here.  That or the image upload has done you no favours.

Agree with James, naked eye should be better than that at Ollys. Perhaps the upload has not reproduced well.

Thanks guys. I'll another look at the visual rendering. Your right, I lost too much patches of Milky Way clouds in the Cygnus area.
