widefield north american

No filters used.  I live in a rural part of the US where not a lot of light pollution except for a street light that lights my garage up where I image.  I had the DSLR set to 1600 ISO and let backyard eos do its thing.  I did use Darks and Flats with this.

This image has nowhere near the depth when the image is less saturated I think im my opinion.  I am sure that I could pull off less saturation if I had far more integration time.  It loses some of the brown dusty clouds.

Thats better and you could get a little bit more out of it.

To give you a comparison here is one I did with 50minutes of 10x300secs.

This was with a 60Da and a Sigma 17-50mm at 50mm but wide open at f/2.8 ISO 1600.

I had another version where I chose different stacking settings in DSS.  This is what I started with and reailized it was a bit on the red side.  However in this version a bit of the veil is visible in the bottom right corner.

Wow that looks nice.  I think mine was F5.6 with the cheapo stock lens.

I think you have done very well with a short set of exposures.

Think your next step is to go for longer exposures if thats possible.

Somewhere in the region of 300secs or more makes a huge difference.
