Engineers: does this collet chuck look right to you ?

I have purchased two collet chucks recently and both of them have had something unexpected. The nut in the photo is used to tighten down on the collet in the chuck, but looking through the nut from the inside, you can see where the surface the collet will be pushed down by is eccentric to the central aperture. To me this looks like a flaw, the conical tapered  surface on the inside of the central hole should push the collet fingers on to the contents and this is being fouled by the internal flange.

Hopeful you can tell what I am saying from the pictures below.

Can anyone tell me if this is what yours looks like or am I getting it all wrong ?
