mystery moon observations

Last night whilst looking at moon I noticed to the right of the moon was a red looking star and a white object just behind it any ideas on what it could be

Mystery solved it was albireo double star

Can't be Albireo - it's nowhere near that part of the sky. But there are zillions of other double stars. Just a guess, but it could possibly have been Zubenelgenubi - the principal star in Libra, and a roughly white-red double. Albireo is more gold-blue, and is over in Cygnus - well above the moon's orbit. It's worth a look too, though - very nice.

It was zubenelgenubi exactly where I observed it on may 31st around 22.50mm it wasn't antares as that was next to saturn and was also on bottom left of the.moon that night

Great - that's one of the most satisfying things in amateur astronomy, I think - finding something by accident, and then positively identifying it. I 'discovered' M5 like that - about 300 years late, I know, but I was happy.

M13 was my observing accident, just happened to be in the area of Hercules, and I take a look through the finderscope to discover a small fuzzy patch.........

I'm sure you know what I said when I looked through the eyepiece!!

I imagine it was "Gosh", or something with a similar number of letters.
