  1. It's been a few months since I was last on the forums, and longer than that since the scope last saw the light of night, the lounge sure has changed its decor! Very nice. :hello2:

  2. Well done Dom I wasn't quite brave enough to post mine amongst such big brothers!
  3. I wonder if leegsi is aware of the legacy he has left behind? 2150 posts and still going. Should rename the topic title to "Leegsi Legacy "

i found M5 by chance while taking a wide field shot i then spent the rest of the night looking at it, ive got a pic of it in my gallary if you wont to look its only a 15sec snap but i think it shows a bit of detail.

  5. All you fellas with ya big guns!!! Someone should start a topic for the little dobs of the family, poor 8"ers feeling left out!

Exactly!!!! Time and space are not the only intertwined entities!

  8. Wow!! Nice cases john, although I don't see any eyepieces, all I see is:- Case 1: Remortgage Case 2: Bankruptcy Case 3: Divorce!
  9. Ok, time for an image update, gone are the unused colour filters, replaced by the one and only Lumicon UHC, also ditched the 25mm standard (straw ep) to make room for the new addition Explore Scientific 6.7mm 82° series. So far, since the delivery of the new equipment it's been nothing but cloud cloud cloud! Probably going to have to upgrade to a larger case in about 12 months if it carries on.
  10. Lumicon 1.25" UHC for £69! In the bag!

  11. I got mine at Maplins. A deal was on their small cases, I missed their large cases deal last year but with my limited collection I figured the small one was adequate enough, was expecting the cut out foam but when I saw pluck foam I was well pleased!
  12. A typical starters case, small with basic instruments, but with the addition of my 82° Explore Scientific and maxvision it's developing in the right direction.
  13. I wish to apologise personally for the awful weather recently, it was inevitable when my Maxvision 82° 24mm came through the door!! :-D. So sorry guys uys

nice one, and clear skys as well

  15. I've certainly chosen the wrong time to get into practical astronomy! Bloomin' weather!!

      ronin

Find there is no point in really planning, weather is just too unpredictable down to the localities we need. The Met office idea of Clear is not I think our idea of Clear - have seen a weather map of sun symbols and a figure of 96% in the cloud cover column. Maybe worth geting half prepared. Best to have a small scope for when the chance occurs.

To be honest, I don't think there is a right time to start up astronomy, especially in the the UK as we don't really have proper seasonal weather. So unpredictable.

This weather is getting hopeless! And it's typical because I've been out of work since buying the scope and the weather has been awful. As soon as I start my new job next week and get less time I guarantee the weather will clear at night!

  16. Joined the team only about a week ago and I find myself checking in a few times everyday now The wealth of knowledge, experience and honest opinions that can be gained here is extraordinary! I originally came across this site while searching for eyepiece reviews on Google, it seemed that no matter what I typed into the search box relating to astronomy I would always find a link straight to here!! It's still early days yet, I have much more to learn and equipment to upgrade and I'm sure that as long as the dark heavens keeps me looking up i will always find what I want right here at SGL!! Thanks guys!! Anthony :-D
  17. ES 82° arrived today and I get full cloud occlusion to boot!!

I believe that cloudy skies is in the small print with every astronomical purchase!

  18. It's good to find a positive review for an eyepiece your interested in and used in the same scope!! Thanks for that write up, it may have given me the push I needed Ant.
