DSS trashing my stars

You can get that effect if the target is not in focus, OR check to see if cosmetic tab is asked to detect hot and cold pixels.  If the detection threshold is more than 1 pixel it can sometimes do this to the stars.  I suspect it is the latter.

Music to my ears thank you - this has been happening to me and very evident when I try and make a separate star layer! Thanks to OP for posting!

Did you try it again and did it work?

I had the same problem at one time until some kind soul on a forum made this suggestion.  I changed the setting and not had a problem since.

I reset the threshold back to 1 pixel and it seems okay. Trouble is I don't even remember changing this parameter!
