out of focus

how do i focus my pics,    ive tried live view just using my camera (cannon 1200d iso) and i have also tried the camera through my telescope (celstron se6) the pics look like they are ok until i put them on the pc and they are all out of focus.

Does your camera have a zoom feature when using live-view? Always works for me.

Bahnitov mask is the way to go for confirming you have the focus spot on. Depending on your focus star you might not be able to use live view but it can be pretty quick with a few short exposures to get it right.

I like the frame and focus feature in BYEOS (BYN 4me).  The FWHM feature is good and the star live view can be zoomed in to extreme. For those without a high power EP good for star test of collimation too.

What are you taking pictures of? How long is the exposure? What sort of mount is the telescope on? Can you connect the camera to a laptop and view live view on the laptop?
