Every buggers got a 4000 26mm , Meade bundle them with their scopes. Are you getting the full set or just a few?

Just a few - 32, 26 and 20. The 26 is coming from Arthurs mate in the US ($33!) and the 32 and 20 are on SPA.

With the Shorty barlow, that's a good range on low and medium powers. Ideal for my variable star work.

I have to say I don't know Steve. The 26 is a Japanese one, the other two the guy doesn't know. He only knows they came from the US.

Daz, the Chinese/Japanese quality myth is just that - a myth.

It started on forums when production switched to China. The only eyepiece where there might be an issue is the 26mm because Meade produced two versions: The regular version, which is parfocal with most of the others in the range and a shorter version that became the 'supplied as standard' eyepiece with most/all Meade scopes. The latter is not parfocal; I cannot comment on how the two 26mm compare, I've never had both together at the same time.

I think I've got a 26mm Chinese 4000, it seems like an OK eyepiece. It doesn't stand out from my other Plossels for being either being much better or much worse.

To be fair Gaz, its difficult to judge with slow f-ratio scopes. Your f5 Dob would be the best for making comparisons.
