My first attempt at a mosiac

Taken on the 30th Jan.

Seeing as the moon made any soft of decent observing difficult, I thought I'd try my hand at making a moon mosiac. I had a quick read through a tutorial on here just to see what software was needed, and then thought I'd have a go.

I have a 127 SLT Mak on alt az. I did 30 video captures, each of 100 frames then used beat 80% (40% in some cases when wind picked up). I just guessed visually for about 20 frames about lining up (I zig zagged across the image), and then 10 to try and fill some gaps I thought I might have missed. As you can tell, I cut it very fine at the top left!

I then stacked in registax, no processsing or wavelets

Then combined in ICE, again no processing in photoshop either

Image size is 2740 x 2505

For a first go, I'm quite pleased. No where near as good as some on here, but for an £8 webcam I came out better than I thought it would. Not sure if the colour is right, the cheap £5 moon filter I used added a blue tinge to the image

Might have a go with my modified aptima CMOS camera next as it has a higher resolution and take slightly longer stacks and see what happens.

One question, on a tracking alt az mount, roughly how long would I have before rotation became a problem? Looking at individual stacks there is a small degree of rotation, but not enough I think to make it blindingly obvious.

If anyone thinks anything can be brought out with processing, let me know!
